washington commons Cohousing
Located two blocks from the Sacramento River, the cohousing community is committed to their urban location and the project’s role in the revitalization of the Washington Neighborhood, one of the oldest in the region. To support community interaction, all residences have private entrances from an open-air walkway overlooking an elevated terrace. The adjacent Common House makes a welcoming gesture to the neighborhood by acting as a bridging element between the terrace and the building entry. Other common amenities are at street level, where they are sheltered by deep building overhangs and landscaped buffers. Semi-recessed balconies enliven the street facade and provide residents with private outdoor space.
