north commercial street residence

Built in 1971, this ranch house remained relatively unchanged in its 40 years of existence.  MFA remodeled the existing home and designed an attached ADU in the backyard. The primary goal of this remodel was to modernize the home, both in feel and in function.  What was formerly excess garage space now accommodates a laundry room and a larger, reoriented kitchen with an island. The exterior envelope received extra insulation and re-cladding for improved energy performance and curb appeal. Colorful accents, as well as new landscaping and hardscaping now complement the house.
